Every winter, the Nashville chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAFN) reviews a busy year of professional and student-produced creative work for award consideration and recognition during the Annual AAFN Awards Gala. This year, iostudio’s creative efforts garnered five awards for its client work and a special AI-enabled self-promotion effort.

Local Sizzles

The Zombie Award

The Zombie Award recognizes inspiring work created for clients that was not used when originally created, but “came back to life” to be used later. iostudio submitted a video originally created for the U.S. Army National Guard about the history surrounding the D-Day invasion, which iostudio later used for a social media post instead.

For the Love of Nashville

The For the Love of Nashville award recognizes local businesses doing positive, cause-related work in the Nashville community. Project Heart, a Nashville-based nonprofit, is dedicated to the eradication of childhood congenital heart disease (CHD) through scientific research that will enable medical professionals to grow a real human heart compatible for transplant. As part of iostudio’s ongoing mission to “Do Well by Doing Good,” Project Heart’s new fundraising website was selected as this year’s winner.

Nashville Hot Shot

A Nashville Hot Shot award highlights creative video work shot exclusively in Nashville. This year, iostudio’s video about the American Job Centers, produced for the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, garnered this year’s high honor.

iostudio AI wins both a Gold and Silver AAF award for Rigsby’s Magic Card Maker

To offer up a jolly Christmas, the iostudio elves created an online, AI-enabled Christmas card application. Rigsby, the iostudio “First Dog” and mascot for the application, was thrilled with the results: a Gold Addy for Self-Promotion and a Silver Addy for Digital Creative Technology from AAF Nashville.

It quickly became an international success, with over 900 Christmas cards created by visitors from America, Ireland, Germany, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Cards were shared via email as well as Facebook, Instagram, and other online platforms.

Per Rigsby’s specs, the application offered five design styles including: Steampunk, Realistic, Vintage, Cartoon, and No Style (for the indecisive card creators). Realistic and Cartoon were the winners, accounting for just over 50% of the cards created.

The application was written in Laravel and VueJS and leveraged the DALL•3 image generation model. The application took visitor inputs to create prompts and pass them to the image engine. Results could be downloaded by the visitor, or, if desired, the inputs could be tweaked to render the image again. Based on responses received by iostudio, Rigsby’s Magic Card Maker was a big hit and provided hours of fun for visitors of all ages.

For the time being, the card maker is still live at christmas.iostudio.com so feel free to check out this award-winning way to fetch a fun Christmas card for next year.
